The actual output power of the powerfluxx® buoy depends on the flow rate and the water depth at the site and can be over 300 MWh per year in good locations.
The costs per kWh of sustainable energy can thus be reduced to less than 10 cents.

In several studies since 2013 it has been proven that fish and other water dwellers as well as water sports enthusiasts are not harmed by the buoy.
This hydropower plant does not need a fish pass either.

Rotor
The powerfluxx® buoy is designed for large rivers such as the Danube, Rhine or Inn. With the 250cm rotor it delivers 70 kW rated power at a flow of 3.3m / s. Depending on the quality of the location, it can deliver over 300 MWh per year.
A two-bladed, slowly rotating (50 - 120 rpm), fish-friendly rotor with highest efficiency made of aluminum or bronze is mounted on the double-bearing shaft.
The PM synchronous generator runs at variable speed and gearless. The design and technology of the buoy are patented worldwide.

Diffuser
The powerfluxx® buoy has a diffuser, which optimizes the inflow to the rotor to maximize the rentability.
The whole buoy with the performance-enhancing diffuser are made of high-quality, environmentally friendly coated steel.
A self-cleaning rake effectively protects the inlet and the rotor from small and large floating debris, as well as swimmers and sports boats from contact with the rotor.

Anchor
The powerfluxx® buoy is anchored to the bottom of the river with 4-fold securing and can withstand all possible floods with floating debris. It swims outside the fairway at every water level and so does not interfere with shipping.
Weight, length of the chain, attachment point, buoyancy of the powerfluxx® buoy and current pressure ensure at normal water levels that the device automatically adjusts itself in the strongest current just below the water surface and protects itself against floating debris by submerging in high water.

Our references
Austria - Danube
Several powerfluxx® buoys under the brand "Aqualibre" were used in a test in the Danube at the Wachau World Heritage Site.
The buoys were used to teach how to live with nature and water.
The buoys were also used in several floods and were tested and further developed in more than 10,000 hours of trial operation.
Germany - Rhine
16 powerfluxx® buoys will be in use on the Rhine between Koblenz and Wiesbaden. When fully expanded, they will produce up to 4 million kWh per year. This corresponds to the annual output of a modern wind power plant or the electricity consumption of around 1200 households.
The first buoy was used in 2020, where the Rhine has an average flow velocity between 1,8 m/s to 3,2 m/s.
The electricity is taken over by Westnetz, an RWE company, and fed into the public grid.
